I am potentially the least fashionable person you will ever meet. As I type this up, I am donning a hair turban and a polar bear print onesie, but I love fashion. I love following trends (from afar, I very rarely buy into a trend as I have a ‘uniform’). Whilst London or Paris fashion week is very far out of my reach, I was really excited to be invited to the Nottingham Fashion Week Launch party the other week.
The bloggers launch party was hosted at The Beauty Temple – a beautiful and very luxurious salon based in Nottingham City Centre. It is potentially the most instagrammable salon ever, and based on Queens Street, its perfectly located for a pamper. They are also the only stockists of Delilah makeup in Nottingham which I thought was amazing!
We were welcomed with some delicious cocktails (glittery non the less!) and the cutest glass bottles of orangina. There was also a massive supply of gorgeous pizzas from Mod Pizza (a subway for pizzas if you would.. delicious!) and their resident DJ played some absolute corkers. We got change to mingle before the show started, and I was able to catch up with some of my favourite girls.
Nottingham Fashion Week prides itself on showcasing clothes to suit all budgets – and these are split across three main shows; Club to Campus (I would have LOVED this one if I was still at Uni!), Desk to Dinner (This is the one that currently appeals to me most – transitioning from work wear to dinner and drinks) and Style Classics – this is the kind of style I’d love to wear but I just can’t pull off that classic fashion. Club to Campus is aimed mainly at students with more affordable brands, Desk to Dinner opts for the more mid range stores available in Nottingham whereas Style Classics is from more high end stores, focusing on investment pieces.
The preview evening was split into 6 main looks – my favourite was the sports luxe with the model sporting a gorgeous orange jumpsuit from French Connection. This however showed the male model wearing a croptop.. I don’t think this is a trend Chris will be buying into! Another look was the ‘Back to the 80s’ where I fell in love with another jumpsuit, this time a beautiful summer full length blue number! I didn’t catch where this was from but I have been thinking about it ever since!
We were kindly gifted a ticket to one of the shows this weekend but I am unfortunately away. If you would like to grab yourself a ticket you can do here; the main shows are Friday 24th and Saturday 25th March. I would like to say a massive thank you to the lovely team over at Gemini PR and It’s In Nottingham for a wonderful evening – and thanks to the fanciest salon ever for hosting. It really was a great evening!
