I have a terrible habit of buying new products then never actually getting around to finishing them. For this reason, I have set myself a challenge – 2 months and a number of products to finish, or at least make a big dent in. I am going to America in a couple of months and will of course be doing some serious hauling so its time to get shopping my stash!
I seem to have so many mini primers floating around that I’m going to try and finish up. Makeup Forever Step 1 Hydrating Primer – this is a dinky little sample so should finish up relatively easily. I used it this morning and it definitely was hydrating, although whether it is making my makeup last any longer is another thing. Benefit Porefessional is a classic and a primer I have loved for years. Time to get this sample used up so I can try something different. For eyes I have the LORAC eye shadow primer – I don’t wear a great deal of eyeshadow in the week so this will last me a bit longer than the facial ones. I’m going to try it with different eyeliners etc to see if it prolongs the longevity of those instead. When I manage to finish these all off I have the Laura Mercier primer. This is a deluxe size sample that I got ages ago, its definitely time to get this finished up!
For base I have two lighter bases which I will try to use up in the week. Origins Ginzings Tinted Moisturiser (not pictured); this is white cream based product which ‘adapts’ to your skin tone when you blend it. The only issue is that it can pull quite orange on me so I can only use this when I’m blending a lot. I also have the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue base. I spoke about this in my monthly favourites video – I love this, combined with the mineral foundation from Bareminerals and it offers a slightly higher coverage finish than wearing it alone. I will be sad to see this one go but feel like I’ve had it a really long time. For under the eyes is the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer. I love this formula but do feel this is slightly too yellow for me. I can’t wait to finish this up and get the neutral colour when we are in the US. For blush I want to use and finish the Tarte Flush blush stick – from first impressions this reminds me of the Josie Maran Watercolour Blusher but less messy and easier to apply! To top this off and give an extra glow, I’ve been using the MAC Strobe Cream as a cream highlight. I’ve also been mixing this in with my higher coverage foundations to give it some glow!
For eyes I have the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – this is about dead so I’m going to focus on using it for the next few weeks, and also a sample of the Makeup Forever Smokey Extravagant mascara. This has the craziest brush ever, its huge! It does give a really gorgeous effect though. The NYX Brow Mascara is starting to dry up so I thought I’d make the most of it. This used to be my favourite but has been pipped to the post by a cheaper alternative – post coming up soon! A goodie that I’ve found whilst clearing through my makeup is The Balm Schwing liquid liner – this is getting a bit old so its definitely to finish it up. I love this though and it gives a gorgeous thin line which lasts all day!
Fragrance wise I’m going to be finishing up my Marc Jacobs Decadence perfume – this is one of my all time favourite scents and I will definitely be repurchasing. I also have The Body Shop Shea perfume which is great for day to day wear. Its a really gorgeous scent which I find is really easy to wear. I also have a mini roll of the Elizabeth and James Black Nivana scent which I wore on my wedding day. Just a little roll of this puts a smile on my face. I am aware these three scents could not be any more different but I love them all for different reasons! Finally, I have the Bath and Body Works handcream in Vanilla Buttercream which smells incredible! I have found a new favourite in the Kiehls hand salve so want to get this one finished up and done.
So there we go! Lots of products to finish and not that long to finish them! Are you good at finishing products or are you a hoarder like me?
