SEE: The main reason behind us starting our holiday in Florida was to go to Universal Studios as we both really wanted to visit the Harry Potter aspect. We also visited Volcano Bay whilst we were there. I wrote separate post about each of these which you can read in more details.
SLEEP: we stayed at the Best Western Orlando Gateaway which was great. The staff were excellent and they offered a free shuttle service into the Universal parks which is very handy. The only downside to this was that it only ran a few times a day! They kindly upgraded us and I’d definitely recommend it here but maybe only if you have a car as it was a little too far to walk to idrive in the evenings (especially after a long day at the parks!)
*above image c/o best western website as I only decided to do this series after leaving Orlando!*
EAT: We were very centrally located near to international drive which meant that we were overrun with chains and unprecedented options.
IHOP – our hotel offered breakfast for $9.95 each but one day we decided to try IHOP instead. Of course I had to try the Funfetti pancakes which were amazing but so sickly and I was completely defeated! We drove around 10 miles into Ocoee on the first night however to go to Texas Roadhouse as they offer delicious steaks for a reasonable rate and it’s just what we fancied! They also give you the most incredible freshly baked cobs which are amazing! Buffalo Wild Wings is somewhere we tried a couple of years ago in Vegas and it’s just your average sports bar but they offer a super super hot sauce which is delicious. It’s just on international drive so if you were based there it is worth a try! Chick Fil-a is another fast food chain restaurant which only serves chicken and absolutely blows KFC out of the water. Definitely one to try! NBC bar – a number of people recommended going to Universal Citywalk one night whilst we were there and when we went it was heaving! We decided to try the NBC bar and ordered a pretzel – little did we realise how GIGANTIC it would be! (You can see it in full action in this vlog!). The meal was nice but not our favourite we had whilst we were there.
We were only in Florida for just over three days so didn’t get to visit any of the malls, or outlets they had to offer. It is such a nice area of the world and you could easily spend 2+ weeks there if you wanted to visit all the Disneyparks or do more exploring of the local area.
Is there anywhere you would recommend to people visiting Orlando?
