A BARGAIN MAC PALETTE

MAC has always been a super popular brand and it is easy to see why – for so long they were ahead of the makeup game with so much more choice than many other brands had at the time.

I find myself reaching for other brands over the MAC items I do have, but they definitely still have that ‘status’ and definitely have some standout products in my eyes. I made myself a quad when I graduated from University and love the shadows in it. There are some beautiful colours in the quad, but I feel like they were expensive for what they were (I think it came to around £45.00) and I picked shades I couldn’t really make a full eye look with. For this reason, I’ve never been in store again to pick up any more colours despite lusting after several specific shades.

Apologies for the poor picture but this one shows rice paper and also the colourshift in Club!

However, when we were in America, I found out the refill pans are a barginous $6 each (about £4.50!) for this reason, I felt like it would be simply rude not to pick up the colours I’d be lusting after for a lifetime! I also love the 6 pans for their size – easy to make a whole look out of 6 shades (although once again, I failed at planning this as I just wildly picked shades I’d been wanting)

I feel like a number of my choices are heavily inspired by bloggers of the past; Rice Paper is an almost frosty cream shade which would be perfect all over the lid. I also chose a beautiful warm brown crease colour (and also probably perfect for contour?!) shade in the form of Wedge. Patina is a beautiful easy to wear brown shade with a gorgeous golden sheen to it. Amber lights speaks for itself, an incredible punch of gorgeous golden pigment which will be great for halo-ing the centre of the eyes. Expensive Pink is like nothing else I own and I’ve never really been drawn to it but upon swatching in store I knew it was one I needed to try. It wouldn’t look amiss in the Naked 3 or Naked Heat palette – a pinky shade with a golden shift. I think it is one of their ‘veluxe pearl’ shades. Club is the final shade I picked up and it was heavily influenced by this post written my blogger bestie Molly and I knew I had to have it after reading! It is a reddy brown shade with a blue green shift. It is so unusual – almost like the Blue Brown Pigment that MAC also offer. It was SO hard to photograph but I think I’ll be reaching for this one a lot!

Do you have any MAC musthaves?

  1. I’ve wanted Amber Lights for ages – it’s such a gorgeous looking colour! The only one I own out of these is Patina – I tend not to buy lots from MAC as I think their pans are so pricey in this country so only pick what I think is different and unusual, otherwise I just go to Makeup Geek!
