Isn’t this just the strangest concept? Saving our rubbish to discuss in a blog post? My empties bin was overflowing in our airing cupboard however so it was definitely time for me to get it all out for discussion!
Tresemme Shampoos and Conditioner – I often pick this up when it is on offer as you can always get a great deal on it; and everytime I buy it I remember that I didn’t like it last time. I find the formulas sit on my hair, weighing my already greasy hair down. Note to self – MUST NOT REPURCHASE. I was intrigued by the reverse idea of the Tressemme Reverse Volume as you wash your hair with conditioner first. Again, I just didn’t get on with this! I need something lighter but can’t say that it gave my hair anymore volume than normal washing. Phillip Kingsley Elasticiser is something I’ve probably had 100 sample sizes of in beauty boxes of months go by. I really don’t get the hype around this either! I find it abit of a faff that it needs leaving on for so long and don’t find that the outcome outweighs the inconvience. I much prefer the 3 minute miracle from Aussie!
Batiste is a product I couldn’t live without and genuinely go through about 2 bottles a month. I don’t know where the other empties are but I rely on this to refresh my hair almost everyday. It does have the dry chalky texture but I prefer that to the ‘invisible’ offerings which leave me feeling like I’ve dipped my head in hairspray. I haven’t met a shampoo from the L’Oréal Elvive range that I haven’t loved and just buy these whenever they are on offer so I have a nice stock of them. They aren’t too heavy and leave my hair feeling shiny glossy and nourished. They also smell amazing! Definitely one for trying.
Firstly, KIKO Foot and Heel cream– I have really dry skin on my body hands and feet so use foot cream a lot. This one offered little to no moisturisation so it definitely isn’t one I’d recommend! I picked up the Radox Awake Shower Gel recently as Chris was moaning that the other ones I had picked up weren’t doing it for him. He likes a more “manly” scent and seems to like this one. It’s decent for the price as it is always on offer! One of the worst shower gels I’ve ever used is the Dove Purely Pampering. It was so thick it was like smearing grease on my body and within one wash this was in the empties pile. It was way too thick for my liking. The Radox Nourishing shower gel is a much better alternative for me – thicker than your standard shower gel and feels like it offers moisture back to your skin. This smells bloody lovely too.
This sample size of the Clarins Body Lotion didn’t last very long but I really don’t see myselfnrepurchaisng this. I just can’t warrant spending so much on a body product when you can get such nice alternatives! It has a very light fragrance and sunk into the skin fast but it just want for me! Original Source Tea Tree and Mint is a classic – so fresh and zingy! I always buy this one. I really like that Original Source are changing it up with their Sweet Apple and Vanilla Milk fragrance and whilst it was delicious, it was such a sickly scent! I’m not having much luck with things this month!
I’m sure that the L’occitance Almond Shower Milk was a sample size from a magazine and this is lovely. It’s beautiful for shaving your legs with and the frangeence is soft enough to be unoffensive. This is a gorgeous product! The Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod is a treat for me and I use these bottles sparingly. My mother in law always buys me some for Christmas and I love the spicy scent this offers!
Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly is genuinely the strangest product I have ever seen. I think mine went off as it got really hard and was so hard to use! It smells lovely though so I’d love if Lush offered this in a proper gel as I don’t think I’d repurchase it in this format again – it seems like a really gimmicky/ faffy product. I’m sure I got the Mio Double Buff Exfoliator in a beauty box too. This had a perfect amount of scrub to it and I enjoyed using it but doubt I’d repurchase it due to the high price tag.
The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Balm is an absolute gem of a product. It feels luxurious and removes every trace of makeup in an instance. Its 100% my favourite cleanser! I don’t remember when I got this sample size of the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish but it is such a cult classic that I couldn’t wait to try it out. Sadly I was disappointed – I didn’t feel that it removed my makeup as well as I would have liked and found the scent to be a little bit overwhelming. The Body shop cleanser is still my favourite. These were very old and saddening in the bathroom cupboard so I had to make a conscious effort to use the Avon Toning Pads up – I think this tells you all you need to know about this. To be honest I felt like it was an additional and unnecessary step in my skincare routine which was making no difference to my skin. Not one for me!
The Milky Piggy Bubble Mask absolutely blew the internet up and I actually picked it up to film this video with. This is still one of the favourite videos I’ve filmed, it was hilarious! It is the strangest mask ever. I’d had this Olay Instant Hydration Nightcream on my bedside table for about 100 years and was really struggling to get through it because it wasn’t offering the hydration I needed. This is such an iconic brand but I feel like there are better offerings on the market. The Original Ginzing Peel Off Mask was such a hyped product that I couldn’t wait to try it – and whilst I loved the peel off aspect, the colour (copper!!) and the brightening effect it left on skin, the scent made my eyes sting like nothing else. I’m not even overly sensitive so if you do buy this one – just be careful!
Clarins Pure Melting Cleansing Gel is a product I was surprised by as I actually really liked it. Despite the heavy fragrance it removed my makeup well without stinging or irritating my eyes. It is thick and luxurious feeling! The first ever ‘high end’ first mask I purchased was the Ren Glycolic Radiance Mask. I purchased this before I knew a great deal about skincare and loved how it brightened my skin but dear god this stinks. It actually smells like rotten food. I won’t be buying it again for that sole reason!
Isn’t the travel MAC Cleansing Oil the cutest? Another product however that absolutely ruined my eyes! I don’t know what it is, there must be an ingredient in the oils and cleansers which irritates me as I often use other oils with no issues. This sample of the Eve Lom FaceMask was something that I put off for such a long time as I was worried I’d fall in love with it, finish it up then have to fork out £50+ for a tube. I didn’t find this to offer my skin any benefits and needless to say, this hasn’t been the case and prefer my other masks! Phew!
How did we ever manage without the Seche Vite Topcoat? This offers the glossiest top coat to your nails, it keeps my nails looking salon fresh for days, and provides an almost gelish finish to my nails, making even the cheapest nail varnish last a week. You can purchase this in Boots for around £9 per bottle, but I bulk buy this on amazon for a fraction of the price! If you see me on a work day, I very often smell of the Body Shop Shea Perfume. It is almost slightly masculine, nutty yet fresh and I love it. The Eau De Toilette actually lasts a long time on my skin and its such an affordable option. I have tried other scents in the range but find them to be too fruity whereas this could pass as something quite expensive.
When I wrote this blogpost about my project pan, the Bareminerals Complexion Rescue was on it. I have had this in my collection for a really long time so wanted to clear it out and start afresh. This is a great summer ‘foundation’ as it provide a skin evening, light coverage which is super glowy and gorgeous for the warmer months. To add additional coverage I often topped this with the powder foundation from Bare Minerals to make it last longer. I’d love to know why we cannot buy Covergirl in the UK and especially the Covergirl Outlast Foundation. It is so gorgeous and offers a medium to full coverage at the drugstore. It states to be a primer, foundation and concealer all in one to be honest, it ticked all those boxes for me. Whilst upon first application it appears super thick and cakey, it actually blends into the skin beautifully and lasts all day.
I feel like I whizzed through this bottle of Bourjois Healthy Mix. I absolutely love this foundation and actually did a full review of it now it has been reformulated. You can read all about it here. Marc Jacobs Decadence is one of my all time favourite scents. My parents got it for me back in December 2015 so it reminds me of the time just after getting engaged. Fragrance and scent is very emotive for me and can take me back to any period of time in an instance. I love this scent and will repurchase it for as long as I can.
Bloody hell that was a long post! I’ll try and do these in more concise months next time!
