When I wrote up our original wedding budget, one thing I viewed as an unnecessary expense was flowers. I’m not big on flowers, know nothing about them and really didn’t want to spend a fortune on them.
My view on this however changed as soon as I met Claire from Budding Floral Design. She was so passionate about flowers and about creating something beautiful that I left our first appointment full of excitement for what we would design together and with a huge smile on my face. She was recommended to me by a friend and upon meeting her, I knew I didn’t even want to visit anyone else.
I took in a few photos that I had found online and basically told Claire to do what she wanted. From the second I met her I instantly knew I could trust her creative little brain and hands.I could tell just how passionate Claire is about creating beautiful things and this made me so excited to have her be a part of our wedding.
For my flowers I told her I wanted something casual, something leafy and green with white flowers. The corsages and buttonholes were to mirror this and contain gypsophilia which would tie it all in with the bridesmaids flowers. Claire also created us four thank you bouquets which matched the other flowers in the venue perfectly and lasted almost 4 weeks!
As soon as we decided on our theme of green, I knew I wanted a headdress. My red hair has been my signature look for a long time (that, and lipstick!) and I thought that some green foliage and white flowers to tie with the bridesmaid and flowers would be perfect and compliment my hair perfectly. Claire absolutely nailed it. I told her I’d like something big but not too obnoxious and I think she did this perfectly.
Claire dropped off the flower on the morning of the wedding and her smiling face instantly put me at ease. She gave me a big squeeze which just made my heart happy – she really is a little ray of sunshine. Upon giving me and the girls our flowers, she went off to the venue to decorate away and she just has a complete eye for detail.
I can’t thank her enough for just being a complete little babe. She made me feel so excited for something that I was dreading (the flowers, not the wedding..!) and it was genuinely like working with a best friend from start to finish. I’m sad she isn’t in my life (as such!) anymore but know I will continue to visit her for all my floral needs.
My best advice for planning your wedding flowers is to absolutely utilise Pinterest and Google Images. Think about your budget, the season and what you want from the flowers. A good florist will help create something to your budget and also highlight any flowers which you love but may not be in season at this time – just be open to ideas is the best suggestion I can give.
If you are looking for flowers for any occasion with the personal touch in the East Midlands, I would 100% recommend Claire
