Having worked in McDonalds for a long stint of my teenage years whilst I was at sixth form, I feel like I am a fast food connoisseur. I’ve served more burgers than your standard person! So when Molly asked if I wanted to come and try a ‘posh fast food’ restaurant, my interest was piqued… is there such a thing as posh fast food?
In short, my answer is definitely yes. I think you can do ‘posh’ fast food. The last eighteen months seem to have seem an absolute surge of ‘posh’ fast food joints such as Five Guys popping up all over the shop. Molly was invited to Boo Burger in Leicester and kindly asked me I wanted to join and of course, I jumped at the chance.
Boo is located on London Road with a surprising amount of roadside parking nearby. The décor is modern and the staff super friendly. The kitchen is open which I really like, and the staff start cooking for your burgers whilst you’re completing your order, ensuring that everything is cooked to perfection!
The menu is small but perfectly formed offering a chicken, beef and vegetarian option – Molly opted for the Halloumi Burger (the Booloumi Burger) whilst I opted for a standard hamburger, we both went for fries and a milkshake – Vanilla for Molly, Strawberry for me. The shakes were to die for but super filling so we were both still slurping them by the time we were driving home. They also had a few side options including onion rings and chicken bites.
I’d be lying if I said these weren’t some of the nicest chips I’ve had. I hate nothing more than an anaemic chip which has been shown the frier but isn’t actually properly cooked nor crispy but we both thought they were bloody lovely! The whole meal came to less than £25 which I think is a great deal if you’re looking for a slightly fancier, but still ‘fast’ fast food. The meat was cooked well, the halloumi was to die for and the chips top notch!
I’ve tried to do a bit of research on Boo, but they do not seem to have much of a online or social media presence (they have a facebook and Instagram account but no website or twitter) which I think means that some people would struggle to find them. If Molly hadn’t have been contacted by the PR them I’m sure we’d have never known about it which is a shame. The branding is all really cute and very instagrammable so I think a bit more social media presence would do them the world of good – Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
