As I’m getting older I’m falling more and more in love with gift giving. I really love suprising friends or family with something I’ve seen and though that they would love, and whilst Christmas is somewhat of a military operation in our house, I’m all about the gift giving. I thought I would compile a little post for anyone who needs to buy some last minute gifts, as well as share what I was gifted in a bloggers secret santa!
As we get older I think that everyone becomes just that little bit harder to buy for as we’re all at an age where a lot of us will buy ourselves what we want, rather than wait for crimple in the hope someone will gift it to us. Sadly, gone are the days of circling to Argos catelogue in the hope that Santa might just see that you’re lusting after the latest rollerskates or toy post office (I had one – it was fab!) – although I still do love a ferk through the boots book with a biro!
I try not to get into the habit of buying for the sake of buying so I’ve really tried to put a lot of thought into the gifts I’m giving this year – I thought I’d share some ideas for you last minute shoppers!
One thing I’d love to recieve for Christmas (and something I’m giving this year too) is a Magnitone. I managed to get myself one about a year ago in TK Maxx at a hefty discount and I’ve loved it ever since. I know a lot of other people who swear by these so I’ve picked a couple of friends these up for Christmas. They can range from £30 – £100 online so depending upon what you want, if you shop savvy (I picked mine up on Groupon for £31.00 each!) then you can definitely snag a bargain.
Pyjamas or lounge wear is a great shout for all ages, and I’m always very pleased to recieve some! This years pick is a super soft onesie from Primark (Sainos also have some gorgeous bits) or these super soft knitted numbers from M&S. These are actually what Chris has bought me from Christmas this year! You could purchase some pyjamas, team with some new fluffy socks and a DVD for the ultimate cozy night in kit. If that isn’t a cracking gift then I don’t what is!
I’ve spoken briefly online about starting a bullet journal – I have a couple of videos coming up soon – so if you have any friends who are looking to start one, or are always looking for a new way to get organised, this 365 Bullet Journal book is gorgeous. There is SO many resources you can find online but I sometimes get a smidge overwhelmed by the vast amount of videos online and its great to have a physical book to revisit. It is definitely not a neccessity but could be a great gift. I picked this one up on Amazon. For your super organised friend who isn’t feeling the #bujo trend, a trusty moleskine diary or notebook is a winner.
As part of my journey with bullet journalling I’m also looking into working on a capsule wardrobe – I picked up this book, again for Amazon and think it would be a great one for any of your friends or family who are working on decluttering and minimsing into the new year.
Another great option for gift giving with friends is to do a secret santa. It could be a £5 funny santa, or a bigger £20+ Santa. With Chris’ very closest friends and their girlfriends we’ll be exchanging our christmas santas over a boozy christmas dinner (it’ll be today when this post goes live!) whereas with my blogger besties, we’ve already exchanged ours (of course this was done over a very carby meal… standard). As a group of beauty lovers, you gotta know we got each other some gems.
I was very lucky to be gifted by Molly who knows me oh so well. We recently shopped together in Nottingham and I was admiring the Man Ray NARS Christmas triangles. She picked me up one in the shade Hot Sand / Rita. Rita is the most gorgeous of red lipsticks and the formula is a dream to apply and wear. The powder you receive in this particular set is looks pretty unspectular in the pan but really comes to life once swatched, offering the most beautiful lit from within glow. This is a dreamy blush topper or a perfect stand alone highlight. These powders really pack a punch too, so you’re really getting great value for money in these sets.
Ideal for a cheaper secret Santa would be some gems from Boots, AKA the queen of the Christmas gift sets. I recently attended one of their Christmas gifting events where we were given some of their gift sets. I love a pun so the Pouty Popper* from Soap and Glory was screaming my name. An avid lover of the S&G lip products, this would be an amazing gift for a loved one. No7* offer some beautiful nail polishes and this set is a stunner – the price is also unreal, especially if you were to pick it up on the 3 for 2 offer! Sleek seem to have blown up the market this year and have so many different sets at the moment.
The Sleek liquid lip set* would be great for the makeup lover in your life. I’ve never used this lips so I’m actually keeping this one for myself! I feel like Jack Wills are bringing out more and more bits, and these super cute shower gel pods would be a great stocking stuffer. I’m sure I’ve got plenty of family members who would love these. Another gem would be this Cleanse and Polish set from Liz Earle – a great present at £10, allowing you to give the gift of great skin this Christmas!
For your homey friends I’ve got a couple of suggestions; Letter boards are all over the internet and it is with good retro reason. I loved the look of these but couldn’t justify the price tag of £25+ I was seeing online and on the highstreet. I managed to pick this little gem up for a bargain of £5.99 in Home Bargains and I’ll be gifting this to one of my besties who has a pretty kitsch retro house interior. I think she’ll love it and for the price, this would make a great stocking stuffer.
Want to give a gorgeous home fragrance but on a budget? These Aldi Jo Malone dupe diffusers are a great one. I’ve got them in several rooms of the house (Pomegranate is a fave) and they fill the room with scent as well as looking super sleek. I love the diffusers as they last so long, but they also sell candles, both at a bargain £3.99!
Do you love or loath Christmas? Let me know if you have any good stocking suggestions or you’ve written any posts of your own!
