MY WINTER SKIN SAVIOURS

One thing I’ve tried really hard with recently is my skin, and its been paying dividends so I thought I’d share my winter skin saviours from over the last 4 months or so (except this week where it looks bloody awful after a reaction from something!). I’m a big lover of Kiehls, they really are my favourite skincare brand of the moment so of course, they build the basis of my skincare regime.

When I was younger I literally gave my face a quick wipe with the cheapest face wipes around, but now I’m trying my best. I have combination skin, predominantly ‘normal’ but much dryer in the summer.

For evenings, I’ve been using a number of different products from The Ordinary (more on that another day!) but combining them with the Kiehls Ultra Facial Balm – this a really thick balmy texture, it almost completely sinks into the skin overnight but I can definitely feel a residue on my skin in the morning. It really has added an extra boost of hydration into my skin (thanks to the Edelweiss Flower Extract it contains), especially where the winter has been so bitter recently. It does have a slightly strange scent, but nothing offensive!

I’ve recently realised the importance of eye cream. I am starting to get some fine lines and I’ve been a firm advocate of the Avocado Eye Cream for years. I’ve now moved onto the Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Eye Cream to help tackle these wrinkles! Formulated with Copper (helps to stabilise collagen and elastin in the skin as well as maintain moisture) and Calcium (which aids the maintenance of collagen fibres), it has been keeping those wrinkles and bags at bay.

For morning moisturisation I’ve been turning to the trusty Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream – super lightweight but packs a punch with moisture. It lays so nicely under makeup, making everything glide on. I find it hydrates without making me greasy. The Ultra Facial cream is one of their cult products, and it isn’t hard to see why – one of the ingrediants is Imperata Cylindrica (I had to google it!) which apparently is a desert plant whose main benefit is to help the skin maintain hydration for longer.
I have been spending a lot of time outside over the winter months thanks to my job, so I’ve been hammering the hand cream. This particular gem from Kiehls is actually one that I got in the Kiehls advent calendar back in 2016. Its a gorgeously rich cream which sinks into the skin instantly and banishes any site of dry skin. Chris works a very manual job and loves this too!
Something I love about Kiehls is that when you go into store, the staff are super knowledgeable and helpful. They’re more than happy to talk through your skincare issues and help you map out the best products for you and your skin. They’re also really generous with the samples which means you are able to try out so many of their other awesome products.

What has been saving your skin over the winter months?
